How to Brew Matcha
A little care makes each cup your own. These recipes are starting points—adjust to your taste and follow your package and brewer instructions when they differ.
Whisked matcha — one small bowl
Use: 2 g matcha (about 1 level teaspoon) and 2 fl oz / 60 mL water at 175°F (80°C).
- Sift the matcha into a bowl or wide mug.
- Add the water and whisk briskly in a zigzag for 15–30 seconds until smooth and lightly foamy.
- Sip as a concentrated small bowl, or add a little more warm water to taste.
Easy matcha latte
Add 6 fl oz / 180 mL warm milk or a milk alternative to the whisked matcha. Sweeten lightly if desired. For iced, use cold milk and ice.
Promise Table tip: Whisk rather than steep or strain this powder. Avoid boiling water, which can make the cup taste harsh.
Brew it. Sip it. Make it yours.
